About DarkDeck
A music and media platform for artists and creators: upload songs and videos, share them with a link, and every song gets an auto-visualiser. No ads, no cookies. Unlisted by default.
Status: beta. First deployed on 6 November 2026. Things will change, and some will break.
How it works
- Upload a video and get a private link. Only people with the link can watch it, unless you make it public.
- Videos have no expiry date, but nothing is guaranteed. Keep your own copy of anything that matters.
- Up to 2 GB per video, and up to 10 GB of uploads per person per day, so the service stays free for everyone.
- Big videos can be shrunk with one click, right in your browser, before they upload.
- No ads, no third-party trackers, and no cookies for visitors. Your volume and where you stopped are remembered on your own device only.
What DarkDeck counts
To keep DarkDeck safe and to see whether anyone is using it, it keeps small daily totals: how many real people visited (not robots), which page type, whether they used a phone, tablet, desktop or headset, which browser and system, which country, the hour of the day, what kind of site sent them (such as a chat app or a search engine, never the address), and how many times each feature was used (help, compress, upload, play, full screen, donate). When a chat app fetches a link to show a preview, that robot visit is counted by type too.
A visit is counted with an anonymous code that changes every day and cannot be turned back into an address, so the same person on two days counts twice. Not stored: IP addresses, names, what you watched, or anything that follows you from one day to the next. No cookies are set for visitors. Nothing is sold or shared.
The owner's own devices are recognised so that testing is not counted as visitors. If something goes wrong or a limit is nearly reached, the site owner is sent a short email with totals only.
